Meet Les Pollock

Les Pollock, FAICP, FLA is a product of the midwest, Chicago born. Educated at the University of Illinois in architecture and urban planning, he's an award winning, internationally recognized city planner, planning educator, and a founder of Camiros, Ltd, a national urban planning consultancy. He spent over 50 years counseling communities and developing city plans, strategies and actions to improve the quality of life for their citizens.
A Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a Fellow of Lambda Alpha International Land Economics Honorary Society, he served on numerous public and professional boards and commissions related to urban planning, and was an elected municipal council member and chair of the Plan Commission in Wilmette, Illinois. A past President of Lambda Alpha International, he currently serves on the Chicago Advisory Committee of the Salvation Army.
Les is the recipient of a host of awards related to his work as an urban planner including recognition as an Urban Scholar in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, University of Illinois, Chicago, and has served on the urban planning faculties at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Loyola University of Chicago.

A respected observer, researcher, teacher and practitioner of urban planning he is the author of over 30 articles and papers on aspects of planning and zoning, including his book, Principles and Practice of Site Plan Review, 2006, and major portions of edited book collections addressing how to prepare city plans and engage the public in city planning. His most recent book, Follow the Sun! A City Planner’s Journey Around the World, Park Bench Press, 2023, is available through Amazon.

Les and the late Sharon Levine Pollock, have two daughters, Elizabeth Pollock Pribble (James Pribble) and Barbra Pollock Eisenberg (Andrew Eisenberg), and three grandchildren. He currently resides in Chicago and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with his partner, Linda Shlaes Schiffman.
